How to quickly evaluate a domain name

Why do I choose to bid for a certain domain name? There are some universal reasons and some domain name specific ones.

The first thing I do when I see an interesting domain name is to enter the keyword into Google search. That way I want to find out which contents are displayed at the top of the search, if certain products, services or even ads appear, or if there exists an ambiguity with the keyword. Next step would be to determine the search volume via Google Trends and other tools like semrush or ahrefs. Here you can find a list of keyword tools.

The next considerations can’t be generalized because they refer to the possibilities every domain name offers as well as your individual preferences and goals. Do already successfull business models exist in that domain that you can copy? How big is the effort to build the idea? How fast can I build it? Can I maintain the site with little effort? Does the work fit my preferred lifestyle? Does the related activity provide opportunities for travel?

This and many more questions will arise when you take a bit time and think about monetization perspectives and your way of life.
